Frequently asked questions
The app shows an empty state asking for access. What do I select?
CladenceViewer reads your local Claude usage logs, which live in the hidden ~/.claude folder in your home directory. Click Grant Access and, in the file panel, press Cmd+Shift+Period to reveal hidden folders, then select the .claude folder. The permission persists across launches.
Is the cost figure what I actually paid?
No — it is an estimate, computed locally from your token counts using public per-model API pricing. If you are on a subscription plan, the app labels it as "API-equivalent value": what that volume would have cost at API prices, not money you spent.
Which activity does the app count?
The token counts and estimated cost reflect your Claude Code CLI activity on this Mac — that is what the local logs contain. Activity from claude.ai on the web or the desktop app is not part of the local logs.
Does the app send my data anywhere?
No. The app is sandboxed, has no network access, no accounts, and no telemetry. Everything is computed and displayed locally. See the Privacy Policy.
I saw a "Plan limits" section on someone else's Mac. Where is mine?
That section appears when the optional, free companion helper is installed. CladenceViewer is fully functional without it.
The numbers look off / a project is missing.
The app re-reads your logs on refresh (circular arrow in the header). If something still looks wrong, email us the app version and a short description — never send us your log files, we do not need them.
